As Trump's ICE ramps up its state terror, one will still find one's relatives and neighbors ultimately justifying the campaign. The refrain is usually that they are breaking the rules of proper migration, or that the overall good of the current established American populace benefits from laying down the law of legal migration procedures. Of course, this overlooks the context of migration as a global problem and the wide variations in migrants statuses- whether as asylum seekers, economic refugees, or people trying to make a quick buck in a wealthy economy. Not to mention the disturbing saturation of far-right ideology which is the main focus of this population control drive.
But forget all those possible nuances of why or why ICE shouldn't be deporting people. Let us try to conceptualize it this in a specific way, in which people you know instinctually might conceptualize it. Because often thinking of this situation devolves upon the rules established by our society, of the rules of civilization as it's established.
America is touted as a proud, Anglo-Saxon derived culture. That its wealth and power is the result of the innate intelligence and strength of its European ancestors. Access to this civilization, as it declines under the threat of "overpopulation" (inequality/poverty), global precarity, and climate collapse, must be restricted to a paying customer. But that global customer to a national company comes from a global ecosystem which the US has frequently violated, grifted, or taken for granted.
I don't even know what else to say anymore because it doesn't seem writing about it matters. But just look at what civilization is, what humanity is, what the essence of our shared experience on earth is. If you really want to make it hard for immigrants to oversaturate your country, you need to re-configure the international economy, starting with a socially informed and just re-negotiation of NAFTA. You could also start by simply fining 'illegal aliens' that they voluntarily migrate. These are very reformist measures and don't strike at the heart of the issue but ICE is a terrorist organization and
